Finally in the Field 9/22/25
Whats up everyone, this last week has been crazy. I wrapped stuff up at the mtc and now I'm finally in the field.
The MTC
Being able to leave the third member of the trio and not have to be someones mom anymore was amazing, however saying goodbye to everyone else sucked. I made a lot of new friends at the MTC and I'm gonna miss them, shoutout to the boys in district 20 N, the boys in room 121 and especially my old comp Elder Carter.
There were like 25 kids going from the MTC to Philly so we definetly got some weird looks while we were at the airport. We had a bunch of delays so we didn't get to Philly until pretty late. Despite that they still loaded everyone into some vans and drove us to the mission home to meet the Mission President. Brother and sister Corbridge were super welcoming and kind. After they gave us dinner we loaded back up and slept in a hotel. The next day was crazy, I had to do a bunch of classes where I found out how everything works, then President Corbridge announced the new companionships and where we were serving. I am living in a small town called Lehighton which is about an hour from Scranton (where the Office was filmed).
My new comps name is Elder Davis and he's from Alberta Canada, he just hit his one year mark. He's shown me around the area and I've met most of the characters that we hang out with here's a list of my favorites. Jack: He's 82 and has been catholic for 80 years and was baptized recently, we play chess with him and he takes us to the local diner twice a week, he also has the most amazing lego collection I have ever seen. Jenny: Has two kids was super nervous to get baptized but we convinced her and my first sunday here she was baptized, her kids love us and we go over and play games with them. David: total stoner but loves guitar, he's also a crazy conspiricy theorist so I like listen to him talk about who knows what.
I'm pretty sure I have the most strict mission around. We aren't allowed to have facebook, board games, buffalo wild wings and we can only be on google photos once a week for half an hour. I'm definetly having a hard time adjusting to all these new rules but it is what it is.
Spiritual stuff
The first sunday I was here I was able to get a baptism. I thought this was super rare but it turns out that my mission has a crazy amount of baptisms. We had 132 last month across the mission. Elder Davis and I currently have people on date for baptism every sunday from now to November 16. On sunday I was able to confirm Jenny and give her the Holy Ghost which is something I've never done before.
