The missionaries: the moving company 10/6/25
Monday
Like every good p day we started the day by going over to Jack's house. He had got the priesthood the day before so we talked about that. He said that having everyone there supporting him made him feel like a somebody and he said it was such an amazing experience. After a few games of chess we met up with the other elders in our zone and went on a hike. The hike was fun even though Elder Thompson didn't stop complaining the entire time. I don't think he's been on too many hikes before the mission. After that we helped a member move a couch out of her house but it was one of those couches with the pullout beds and it was so heavy but she gave us some pizza so it was worth it. We ended off the day with some phone calls at home so we didn't even have to wear our church clothes the whole day! Also talked to the family throughout the day which was so nice, sent my dad a list of music I wanted him to send me and he hasn't yet so if you see him cuss him out for me.
Tuesday
Went to district council and got lunch with the other elders in our zone. Then we went to a members house for a lesson and ended up just moving the heaviest tv I've ever touched to her attic. Finally got groceries for the first time since I've been out here so the sour patch kids, and left over pizza diet has come to an end. I've actually never been more happy to eat an apple in my life.
Wednesday
Pretty boring morning but we went to Philly for zone confrence and there's this food truck that's famous in the mission called Khan's and it lives up to the hype. I slept at the tech elders house along with Elder Carter and his new comp. One of the tech elders is just TJ Garrett if he was a missionary and we got along great. It was also great to see Elder Carter again outside of the mtc. That night we pulled all the mattresses into one room and talked all night. My comp and the tech elders are crazy smart and they started going into all this crazy doctrine and theologies of other churches and I didn't even understand the words that were coming out of their mouths but it did motivate me to lock in on my studies because I realized I'm pretty far behind.
Thursday
We woke up and had to skip our workout, personal study, comp study and daily planning because all 6 of us had to shower and go to zone confrence pretty early in the morning. Zone confrence was great and we had some amazing mexican food for lunch. When we got home I did my personal study for the day and I was LOCKED in. I read Jacob 1-4 and memorized the first vision. (that's supposed to be impressive I'm slow) Im trying to be more like my companion and have stuff memorized because he can have someone ask a question and he just gives them a scripture out of memory and then perfectly answers the question while I sit there in the corner like an idiot.
Friday
We were so packed today. We woke up and after getting ready and doing personal study and everythinng we had pancakes with the Shoneburgers (and old couple in the ward) they invited this mom and her son over too and we had a scripture study with them after. After that we went to Jack's and he took us to the diner for lunch and we played some monopoly with him after. After two meals back to back we came back to the apartment for some zoom meetings and Elder Davis and I ate ourselves into a food coma and we slept through the meeting. Then we went to a members house for a lesson and ended up moving more stuff into her attic. Had dinner with the branch president's family and they are super nice and easy to talk to. We got fed for all three meals so that was great. Ended off the day by stopping by some of our recent converts houses.
Saturday
General conference all day and it was amazing. Favorite talks were Elder Stevenson's on being a peace maker and I think it was Elder Kearon's talk on repentance. First time ever that I took notes during conference, also didn't fall asleep the whole time.
Sunday
Another day of conference. I was not nearly as locked in on the talks today than yesterday but the talks were still amazing and I only fell asleep once. I had already heard Elder Kevin g browns talk at the mtc so that was really cool to hear again.
Overall it's been a good week, I have learned a lot through conference and I am pushing myself to learn more through examples of the other elders. Also learned 3 songs on the guitar.
Crazy guy of the week
This weeks crazy guy isn't as good as last week unfortunatly. I was actually nervous I wouldn't have a guy to write about until saturday night, right before bed this guy calls us. The conversation started out well but pretty soon he started arguing with Elder Davis. Long story short he REALLY wants to come to our church and bear his testimony which will convert everyone in the building to his religion but all organized religion is evil because the holy spirit told him so.
Keep me in the loop of what's going on back home, love you all, Elder Monroe out.
