Better late than never 11/13/25
What's up everyone, I had to move my p day to Thursday because we have the opportunity to go to the temple! This is going to be an extra long email but this week and a half consisted of zone p day, zone confrence, crashing a wedding, two exchanges, back to back sleepovers with the tech elders and two catholic masses.
Monday
We had a zone wide P day so Elder Davis and I took that as an opportunity to spend the night at the tech elder's house in Broomal. We woke up extra early so we could go to 6:30 mass. This mass was Roman Catholic and it is the most laid back and my favorite so far. We took the Ukarus (sacrament) and it tasted like wood. So far I've been to Byzantine, Greek and Roman mass so I think I only need Ukranian and I'll be able to check them all off. After mass we went on a run through the forest. Then we went to the mission home early and helped the president set up all the yard games like pickleball and corn hole and all that. My team won the kickball championship. After all of that we went to the mall with the tech elders even though we are all poor. I heard a misfits song in Zumiez (I don't even like misfits very much but it was amazing to hear real music again)
Tuesday
District council. Then we drove half an hour away to a different town for some stop bys, right as we got there we realized that we needed to go back for a lesson so we wasted an hour and the lesson didn't even answer his door.
Wednesday
Had a great lesson with Angel and his wife Wendy for the first time, it gets confusing now because we are teaching two Angels. Had a member meal with three really old ladies who talked A LOT.
Thursday
Elder Cullimore (the travelling AP) pulled up and we were a trio for the day. He served in Lehighton so we started off the day by going by all of his favorite people starting off with Jack. After bouncing around we had an amazing lesson with our boy Anthony on the restoration and then we had a member meal with the Hopkin's (the GOATS).
Friday
Exchanges with Elder Thompson. He's an odd little critter but he's alright in my book. Spent the whole day driving around in the boonies trying to contact inactive members, only one answered their door out of the whole day. Had Wendy's with the boys, beat Elder Galbreath in chess. That night all four of us got in a heated debate over which Disney princess is most attractive (It's Meg from Hercules.)
Saturday
Had 5 lessons planned and I thought we were going to be packed. EVERY one of them fell through. Later that night one of Elder Davis' old companion (Elder Hiat) was visiting the mission with his family so we went and hung out with him. Two of the people Hiat baptized just got married so we went and crashed the wedding even though we didn't know anyone. The food was amazing, they were a lovely couple.
Sunday
I gave a talk in church on hope. We had 6 of our friends come to church. After church we went and hung out at Jack's house and answered a bunch of questions he had on the temple.
Monday
Did some service at a hoarder's house, my favorite way to start my day. Two lessons cancelled so we went to Jeff the Jew's house to make ourselves feel better. Went to walmart and bought food. Today was long because it's supposed to be p day and I still have to wait three more days.
Tuesday
Elder youngs district and my district were going to have district council at the same church at the same time, so we treated it like zone conference and it was funny.
Wednesday
Woke up early and went to the same 6:30 mass we went to on monday with the tech elders. We're becoming regulars there, we even had two people come and talk to us after. One was nice and the other cussed us out, he was not very welcoming. For the next 6 hours we had zone conference and it was really good, we talked about part member families and how we can involve members better. After zone conference we went back up to our area for two back to back member meals and then we drove right back down to the tech elders house because we are going to the temple in Philly tomorrow morning (and we want to have another sleepover with them).
Crazy guy of the week
This week I hung out with a lot of other missionaries and had a lot of lessons so I wasn't around too many random crazy people (unless you count the hoarders). I did see my first prostitute out in the wild which was cool, I tried to invite her to church but when I spun around the block she was gone.
Hope everything is going well back home love you guys.
Elder Monroe out
