Cody's gone. I hate Cody 12/8/25
Another week down here in PA and it was quite a special one at that.
Monday
Went to Jack's for chess and I won one and lost one. After Jack's we made a walmart run and then went to Jeff the Jew's house for like four hours. He had us clean out his Thanksgiving leftovers so that was awesome, he also taught us how to field strip an AK so that was also good. We also had three friends pass their baptism interview which was great, one of them being Deanna.
Tuesday
Hit my 100th day in the mission so that was fun. Had district council and got lunch with the district. After lunch we went to give one of the sister's friends a blessing, he was also the crazy guy of the week.
Wednesday
After 3 months we took our car in to get an oil change. While we were there I started talking to this dude from the Caribbean. I talked to him for like two hours and we talked about all sorts of stuff, he was quite a partier back in the caribbean, but now he's a "calm little family man". He lives in our area and has an in ground pool and we got invited to a pool party where we can bring anyone we want, if only I met that dude back in Richfield. After about an hour I figured I better do my missionary duties and steer the conversation to a more spiritual direction. He has a ton of faith, we snagged the number and we'll see where it goes.
Thursday
Went to Jack's for some chess. Went and got some pizza for lunch and met another crazy guy. Had a member meal with the Hopkins' but half of them were sick so we just had pizza and hung out with Brother Hopkins and one of their kids. Ended off the night at our boy David's house. For those that don't know David is our stoner friend who always complains that he has no money and then tells us what he blew all his money on. This week's new hobbie is exotic cheeses, he dropped like 500 bucks. He told me about this 50 dollar one called aged cheddar, and I asked him how it tasted, he said "like cheddar that you leave in the fridge too long." So it sounds like money well spent.
Friday
Woke up at 5 to go up to Scranton for an exchange with the zone leaders. Hanging out with Elder Caskey all day was awesome, he's so funny. We had Chili's for lunch and I ate way too much but I found out they have a dragon fruit lemonade there and it's so good. Our lessons and everything went great and we even had a member meal.
Saturday
Drove home from Scranton and chopped wood for one of the old ladies in the branch for like three hours. Both of our lessons fell through which was buns but at about 3:30 we changed into our pajamas and went to the church for the branch Christmas party. The party was packed, it was so great. I read Matthew 2 and Davis read Luke 2.
Sunday
This was one of the most special sundays in my whole mission. Fast and testimony meeting was great, Big Dave said goodbye to the ward and then after church we had THREE baptisms. Bro Schoenburger baptized Deanna and the spirit was so strong. After 15 years Deanna kicked out her stupid boyfriend Cody and finally got baptized and I was able to be a part of it. I was also blessed enough to baptize Carol and Jerry which was amazing. After church I cleaned the apartment while Big Dave packed his bags. We had a member meal, listened to the transfer call and then watched the Christmas devotional. After all that we got our transfer board and my new companion is Elder Swenson and I'll meet him on Tuesday so hopefully he doesn't suck.
Crazy guy of the week
This first guy isn't super crazy but it's still kind of funny. On Tuesday after district lunch we went to give one of the sister's friends a blessing. This dude was pretty much deaf but we didn't know that and we got there before the sisters. When we got there we knocked on his door and we introduced ourselves and then Elder Davis gave him this big speech on what we were going to do. After about ten minutes of talking to this guy he just says "huh" and then puts in his hearing aids. The dude didn't hear a word we said for like 10 minutes and he didn't stop us or anything he just sat there and watched our mouths move.
This second guy was definitely crazy. On Thursday we had pizza at the place that's right next to our apartment. We ordered and sat down and then this big guy walked in and sits next to us. I started talking to him and he was cool at the start and then he totally flipped and started asking me if he could use my phone to set up a bank account because his phone died. That was the strangest thing anyone has ever asked me but this dude was hounding me. I kept telling him no and he kept asking, then he just got up and left mid sentence. He didn't even get his food. Weird.
Here's my google photos if you want to look at me.
Love y'all, Elder Monroe out.
