Graduation of a greenie 12/15/25
What's up everyone, so much has changed since my last email. I have a new companion, his name is Elder Swenson he's from east Idaho and he's a world famous pig farmer (according to his last companion's mom). I get along with him really well, he's really funny and he's super locked in. He's definitely taught me a lot already.
Monday
Transfer news came and I found out that I had to go to Broomall to pick up my new comp the next day. Elder Davis, Young and Roberts are also staying in our apartment while they wait for their greenies to get off the plane on Thursday. That meant 5 dudes in the apartment for two days, they ate all my food. We spent the rest of the day with Jeff and Jack.
Tuesday
Woke up and drove down to Broomall with Elder Bigler and Knapp, picked up Elder Swenson and my Christmas package (love ya mom) and drove back up to Lehighton. We had two lessons with recent converts.
Wednesday
Woke up on my kitchen floor in a room with 4 other dudes, not the best nights rest I've ever had. We all went on a walk around the park and then went to district council. Elder Swenson pointed out that we have really been slacking on recent converts so we have really been focusing on that ever since. At dinner Elder Swenson ate some leftover kabobs then we drove 45 minutes north for a lesson. After the lesson the kabobs came up on the drive home. Then we drove a few more miles and Swenson yacked again, and then we drove a little longer and he yacked again. After the third ralph, I drove and he crashed in the passenger seat, once we finally got home he got out of the car and yacked again.
Thursday
Swenson was still dying but we had a lesson in the morning with one of our recent converts and he powered through it but after we went home and he yacked some more. After that he just slept all day so I played some guitar, took a nap and did some extra studying. I also went to bed at like 7:30.
Friday
The prince of puke was feeling better, I think he only yacked once the whole day. Went to Jack's and played some chess and had a good lesson on temples as well. Found 4 people which is really good.
Saturday
We started the day off in a trailer park where we met this dude named Jose. He was nice and let us in (Elder Swenson kind of just walked in) and we taught him a little bit really quick. We were supposed to have a service project with this lady we're teaching but she got in a car crash so she had to go to the hospital, which was lame. Met the crazy guy of the week on the phone. We really focused on recent converts today. We had a goal to have 10 interactions with them, which is usually double what we do but we really tried and we got 13. Ended off the night with some really bad doughnuts from Dunkin doughnuts.
Sunday
Woke up to 5 inches of snow and they cancelled church (wimps). We ended up going to Jack's and we got permission from the branch president to take the sacrament with him. So for the first time in my life I took the sacrament out of an old Budweiser shot glass, it was awesome. We played a little chess afterward and then the roads cleared up enough to drive around so we took the sacrament to some old ladies in the branch. In return they gave us some turkey that expiered last month, since we have no food because of the other elders earlier this week I took a chance and ate it, haven't died yet so I think we're good. Stopped by a member and shared a Christmas video and then we were off to Jeff the Jew's house because it was the first night of Hanukkah. He showed us a sheckel and a half sheckel that were 2000 years old so that was cool. Then Jeff showed us a video about Hanukkah and explained a little bit about it and then I said the special hebrew prayer and lit the candle. You're supposed to eat something fried on the first night so he gave us a doughnut and we went on our way.
Crazy guy of the week
Had a phone call with this guy on Saturday and I asked if he had a second to talk about Jesus, he said he knew everything about Jesus already and he just wanted to get to know me. I told him I was from Utah and I came out to PA to try and bring people closer to Christ blah blah blah. I then asked him to tell me about himself, and he is "a creator" I asked him what he creates and this dude pretty much thought he was God. Then I overheard his boss tell him to get back to work and it was pretty funny, miss him though.
